The child right situation in Sri Lanka is derived from several factors in the socio-economic, political and cultural fields. Thus it is significant that a study of the situation is carried out from these perspectives. This publication is part of a child rights situation analysis for Save the Children in Sri Lanka. Its overall objective is to collect secondary information on the status of child rights in Sri Lanka, highlight gaps in programming for child rights and finally make recommendations for the fulfillment of child rights over the next decade. The report will serve as a useful reference document for the planning and programming of children’s issues by government agencies, local and international agencies, donor agencies, UN agencies and civil society organisations seeking to promote the fulfillment of children’s rights in Sri Lanka.
