Towards the latter part of the 1980s Sri Lanka Association of Economists felt the need for a publication that put together a series of articles analyzing different aspects of Sri Lanka’s development experience and policy experimentation. The publication has gone through substantial metamorphosis since its inception, some original authors have been replaced by new ones, the subject content has been changed and some papers have been revised to bring them up to date. This volume examines and reviews the development trends and policies since political independence of Sri Lanka.
