Among the various changes that have affected the Sri Lankan plantation industry, the privatisation of the estate sector has perhaps been the most significant. This publication analyses the economic and social impact of the privatisation of the estate sector in Sri Lanka initiated in 1992 and fully accorded in 1995. The assessment is predominantly based on the performance of the privatised companies during the six-year period between 1993 and 1999.
