This issue covers an article by Nilakshi De Silva of Centre for Poverty Analysis on ‘Understanding Development: Economic Growth and Other Perspectives’. The article highlights the rapid changes that have taken place within 100 years in terms of both population and economics. Somehow, these growths have made a positive impact on the quality of people’s lives. However, 14% of the population still live in poverty. This article mainly focuses on those 14% in the world, widely explaining the factors.
