The small farmers and the landless credit project (SFLCP) is a poverty alleviation pilot project, which is being implemented by the Central Bank since 1990, in the four districts of Kandy, Puttalam, Galle and Matara. The results of the survey were presented at an in-house Central Bank seminar in order to obtain comments on the methodology and findings. The information provided in this report would be invaluable for government and donor agencies, development banks, NGOs field staff involved in the scheme, and the beneficiaries themselves, to evaluate the SFLCP, identify its strengths and weaknesses and to design their future strategy. It will also prove useful to stakeholders of other similar poverty alleviation projects as well as for policy makers and researchers.
